JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serving as the Structural Engineer for the Office of Materials Management, the incumbent assists state agencies and institutions of higher education in the procurement of professional design and construction services in compliance with the SC Consolidated Procurement Code.  Reviews submitted design plans, making recommendations and noting deficiencies where appropriate, ensuring all regulations of the International Building Code are met.  Monitors projects during construction to ensure all recommendations and noted deficiencies are corrected prior to final inspection.  Conducts final inspections to guarantee the completed project is safe to occupy.

REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture and registration in South Carolina as Professional Engineer or Architect with six years architecture or engineering work experience. A Master's degree in Engineering and entry-level engineering work experience may be substituted for two years required experience.
Will be required to climb ladders, scaffolds and other construction mechanisms to conduct routine inspections of project sites.  As such, this work may be hazardous. Job requires an in-depth understanding of the Procurement Code, IBC building codes and excellent customer service skills. Travel is required as needed for each assigned project.

SALARY RANGE:  $44,382.00 - $82,109.00 Annually

LOCATION:  Columbia, South Carolina

JOB TYPE: Full-Time

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
