You are Invited to Participate in a Survey
Harvey McDonnell, is working on a doctorate degree in Business Management. He is conducting a research study entitled Examining Emotional Intelligence, Job satisfaction, and Servant Leadership: a Correlational Study. He has asked SCSPE to offer the survey to members who may voluntarily participate.
The purpose of the research study is to determine if and to what degree a relationship exists among servant leadership, emotional intelligence, and the job satisfaction of professional engineers working in the manufacturing industry. He has asked SCSPE permission to participate in the study which involves completing a survey along with answering a few demographic questions. The questionnaire takes approximately 35 minutes. SCSPE member participation in this study is voluntary. If you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time, you may do so.
The results of the research study may be published but your name will not be used, and the results will be maintained in confidence. This survey may result in more awareness about the impact leadership can have on job satisfaction among professional engineers.
To participate in the study go to Mr. McDonnell’s website, www.hmcdonnell.com to begin the process. A popup window will ask for a username and password. The user name is engineer and the password is research (it is all lower case).
SCSPE Volunteer Engineer Corps
The SCSPE Volunteer Engineering Corps (VEC), headed by Pat Jenkins, PE.
VEC is a program where volunteer engineers offer engineering, technical and scientific knowledge and experience on a proactive basis, to reinforce local emergency management capability for the benefit of communities.
In 2007 Greenville County won Honorable Mention for working with the SCSPE VEC and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management to create a pilot program called VEC. This award opened the door for Mr. Jenkins to make his presentation to the county managers and administrators at the SC Association of Counties Annual Meeting.
VEC can work in any county in the state, provided there is interest and engineers ready to volunteer their time and expertise to the program.
